Clergy
Everyone may not be aware of the recent changes made with the Acolytes – especially at the END of the service. During the last hymn as the procession goes to the back of the font, ALL acolytes, regardless of what you are carrying REMAIN at the back of the church until the final dismissal. After the final dismissal, you will ALL TOGETHER (if possible) go back up to the Altar using the side aisle away from the kitchen and replace the cross, flags, etc…then go to the choir room to take off your vestments etc.
I have had several church members comment to me on the outstanding job you have been doing! People DO NOTICE – and when they see you doing a really good job, they tell me!
Some reminders:
You have all been “trained” and know your jobs! You do them well!!!
You are doing a VERY IMPORTANT ministry! Take it seriously, but enjoy it, too.
The procession is not a race – walk slowly…take your time.
Remember that EVERYONE in the congregation can see you during the service!
Sit up straight, pay attention and follow the service in the bulletin. Say the responses and prayers and sing the hymns (or at least make an effort – some of the hymns are harder for our younger acolytes to follow).
Cover your mouth if you need to yawn, don’t wear flip flops.
Experienced Acolytes – help our newer ones – you are their role models.
IF you get confused about what to do next or where we are in the service, ask someone. Another acolyte, Father Tipton, Father Barron or Deacon Melissa will help you find your place. When in doubt, follow the cross in the order above!
